2 Alkaline Vegan Ice Cream Recipes

Alkaline Vegan Banana Ice Cream

Creating alkaline vegan ice cream involves using ingredients that are considered alkaline-forming in the body. The idea behind an alkaline diet is to maintain a slightly alkaline pH level in the body, which is believed to promote better health. Here are two simple recipe for alkaline vegan ice creams:

Alkaline Vegan Banana Ice Cream:

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe bananas, frozen and chopped
  • 1/2 cup almond milk (or any other plant-based milk)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (or any other nut butter)
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Optional sweeteners: a few dates or a drizzle of maple syrup or agave (keep in mind that sweeteners should be used sparingly in an alkaline diet)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bananas: Peel ripe bananas, slice them, and place the slices in an airtight container. Freeze the bananas for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Blend the Ingredients: In a high-speed blender or food processor, combine the frozen banana slices, almond milk, vanilla extract, almond butter, and a pinch of sea salt.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Start blending on low speed and gradually increase to high, scraping down the sides of the blender as needed. Blend until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, similar to ice cream consistency.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness if needed. If you choose to add sweetness, incorporate a few dates or a drizzle of maple syrup or agave. Blend again to combine.
  5. Serve or Freeze: You can enjoy the ice cream immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer it to an airtight container and freeze for an additional hour or two for a firmer consistency.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Scoop the alkaline vegan ice cream into bowls or cones. You can top it with chopped alkaline-friendly fruits like berries or melon.

Alkaline Green Smoothie Ice Cream:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 1 cup spinach or kale leaves, washed and stems removed
  • 1 ripe banana, frozen and chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of sea salt
  • Water or plant-based milk (as needed for blending)
  • Optional sweetener: a drizzle of agave syrup

Instructions:

  1. Blend the Ingredients: In a blender, combine the peeled avocados, spinach or kale leaves, frozen banana, lime juice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt.
  2. Blend Until Smooth: Start blending on low speed and gradually increase to high, adding small amounts of water or plant-based milk as needed to achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.
  3. Taste and Adjust: Taste the mixture and adjust the flavour to your preference. If desired, add a drizzle of agave syrup for sweetness. Blend again to combine.
  4. Freeze the Mixture: Transfer the blended mixture to an airtight container. Smooth the top with a spatula. Cover the container and place it in the freezer for at least 3-4 hours or until the mixture is firm.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Once the ice cream is frozen, scoop it into bowls and enjoy your alkaline green smoothie ice cream! You can garnish it with alkaline-friendly toppings like chopped almonds, chia seeds, or fresh berries.

This recipe combines the alkaline-forming properties of avocados and leafy greens.

Remember that the key to maintaining an alkaline diet is to focus on a balance of alkaline-forming foods – incorporating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, along with other alkaline-forming foods, while minimising highly processed and acidic foods. This ice cream recipe is just one small part of an overall diet strategy.
